It's a wash-proof mesh bag that protects your gear from the rough and tumble of the washing machine and also protects jerseys and bibs from each other. The zips on a jersey, if left unzipped, can catch on other jerseys or bibs if washed together leaving tiny holes which is, well, not awesome. In fact it's aweless.
