Many years earlier, somewhere in Sweden, there was a man fighting his own fight against ageism. Forged from the strongest Swedish steel, smelted from rock broken by giants in the frozen Northland, Gustaf Håkansson would not take no for an answer. Donning his zero race number along with a rather impressive beard, he cycled the length of Sweden faster than people half his age. This was in 1951. Read about a revolution started by a cyclist in his 60s called "Stålfarfar". He made it possible for Team Happy to start in 2018! #Sigr #SigrRevolution #Sverigeloppet
2018 is historical from an international cycling race point of view. Never before has a cycling race had mixed teams. Finally, women and men together! This is the first year that women have ever been in their saddles next to the men at the starting line and that is something that we at Sigr firmly stand behind. Let's do Sverigeloppet together!
In some places, it is less of an issue but in far too many places, women who cycle are considered a little too brave, a little too independent and therefore someone who needs to be put in their place. At Sigr, we want women and men to share the joys of cyclingtogether, on equal terms.
Well, you're in luck! - in fact we are looking for 5-6 more clubs to join us for our 2019 product development. If you are an active club in Brazil, Australia, Poland, Mexico or Germany - for both men and women - and are interested, then stop what you're doing and email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
